A. Costs can vary, but homeowners may be eligible for grants from local councils. Bray’s Pipelines also supports Severn Trent’s green recovery scheme, which replaces old supply pipes with new 25mm industry-standard plastic pipes in eligible areas.

Q. CAN YOU SELL A HOUSE WITH LEAD PIPES IN THE UK?

A. Yes, you can sell a house with lead pipes, but you must legally disclose their presence to potential buyers as part of regulatory requirements.

Q. IS IT WORTH CHANGING THE LEAD WATER PIPE?

A. Although it’s not a legal requirement, replacing lead pipes is recommended because long-term exposure to lead can pose health risks.

We had a letter from Severn Trent Water claiming they had detected a serious leak on our property. Andy from Brays Pipelines (suggested by the water board) arrived within 24 hours to conduct a free quote, and he fully tested the underground supply. He found no leakage whatsoever and demonstrated the flow meter to prove his findings. He refused to accept payment and even telephoned Severn Trent to explain his findings.
